On Friday the fifth of May 2017, a series of links to 9.2 GB of information extracted from different people connected to Emmanuel Macron’s candidacy to the French presidency were first leaked on pastebin.com and on the /pol channel of the anonymous forum 4chan.org. The post, which was made after some hours of reflection and 36 hours before the electoral college opened, included more than 70,000 emails from various members of the campaign, as well as office computer system documents supposedly associated with the party. Among them, it has been possible to identify a large quantity of telephone number and email details affiliated to different files, as well as party account balances.
