17 is a multi-platform application dedicated to video streaming and the real time sharing of multimedia content. It was originally created by United States born Taiwanese pop singer Jeffery Huang in 2015, and initially launched for iOS and Android devices.
The leak was originally offered for sale in TheRealDeal, a known deep web trading market, affecting more than 30 million of users’ credentials. According to information from sources the attack was perpetrated directly against the application’s servers.
Our intelligence analysts conclude that this type of leak forces the verification of the existence of affected email accounts in order to anticipate the consequences of the listing of corporate users, as well as to prevent security incidents associated to bad practices in the choice of passwords by said corporate users.
